SubSonic to Acquire NHibernate(blog.wekeroad.com)

submitted by cyberbloxcyberblox(100) 2 years, 10 months ago

Hanalei, HI – April 1, 2009: SubSonic (http://subsonicproject.com), a data access tool and “Super High-fidelity Batman Toolbelt” (according to its owner, Rob Conery), is set to acquire NHibernate, a much larger data access technology built on the .NET platform. The terms of the deal have not yet been announced but the stage has been set for what many see as a hostile transition of ownership.

;-) Good to hear that it's finally time to abandon the legacy port of Java's Hibernate in-favor of more modern .NET native technology. ;-) Waiting for the announcement that EF is being redesigned using SS as it's persistence engine. ;-)

"Super High-fidelity Batman Toolbelt"

If batman had subsonic in his toolbelt, he would be dead.

Yeah, but if he had NHibernate in his toolbelt, it would take him a year to get dressed.

It takes me 2 minutes to create a model, 2 minutes to create the maps with fluent nhibernate, and 1 minutes to make nhibernate create and run the schema on the database.

I dont know how many hours, i spent on fixing my code, related to bugs in subsonic.

Btw, when was the last release of subsonic? Oh yeah, SubSonic 2.1 - July 7, 2008. Wonder how many bugs have been fixed since that time...!

And thats the reason i ditched subsonic.

Oy! Duckie! I think NHibernate's having some fun with your site!

Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.Customer'.'PK_ShopCustomer' in database 'matronics_dk2' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

Sorry to hear you've had a rough go of it. For what it's worth you're the first "4-minute NHibernate" user I've ever run across :). And SubSonic 3 will be out next week.... as if you care :)

I do care about subsonic, and if there had been a new release a month or two ago, i would'nt have had to look into nhibernate :D I will definetly use subsonic in the future, i just hope you would take a break from the rapid development, and stability be a priority. Gradual change is better than huge leaps imho. I have been a user since 1.0, and a ever changing api is a bit annoying =)
