Is it safe to use objects that may or may not be included in the future? What about possible bugs and the lack of support for them?

Safe for production, maybe. It's hard to say without testing it thoroughly, which is probably what they're hoping for.
Being that it's open source, you have the ability to pick and choose the singular features you'd like to try and adopt.
