Get Database Traffic Report in SQL Server (dotnetvj.com)

My Database team is working on, to find the database traffic on the server. The database is heavily used by the Online appllication and it is 24/7. We would like to see when the database is heavily loaded and see if there are any processes blocking each other which results in slower performance. One option which came to my mind is setting up a server side trace and capture rpc complete and sql batch complete events along with other events.
