I like the solution, but I'm curious what the advantages are to doing the work on the client side vs checking for the image on the server side?

What happens if you don't have access to the code behind say a cms that you have little control over? :)

Oh ok, I was thrown off because the article mentioned checking on the server side. In that case this would be a great solution.
