1. Why duplicate what's already here? There's an established userbase here and good recognition across the "blogosphere" ("kick it" links are everywhere and showing up on more blogs all the time).
2. If you want a site that looks like digg, try digg.com. With all the SuperGu/Pligg copyright issues going on right now, I'd stay away from ripping off digg's design. They might be about to get really protective of it.
3. The audience is here, signal to noise ratio is excellent (almost never see any spam, gaming, etc.). There may not be a vibrant commenting community, but that may be for the best. Generally only quality content makes the front page, so the system is working.
4. DNK could use a few features (duplicate detection, more post reporting options, better user profiles, etc) but it's not missing anything major.

DNK, you have my heart :-). I don't program in DOTENET anyway. I prefer DotNet

A better question is what's missing from DNK that requires another copycat? Someone else just trying to get a few AdSense bucks? (because I'm sure Gavin is just rolling in the dough from this site....<g>)

When i first about the new dotenet site i thought to my self that either dotenet developers does not have a clue about this site or that he just thought dotnetkicks lacked the features he wanted. Either way its just does not make any sense. I believe that the time and effort dotenet has taken could have come to better use by contibuting to make an excelent site like Dotnetkick even more appealing.

Maybe its time for Gavin Joyce to start taking contributions from willing developers that has a desire to extend Dotnetkicks and make it even better than it already is.

I don't see the need for this site either, although it may surprise us. Good luck to them.

The soon to be open sourced DotNetKicks will be hard to trump.

I don't think their name is going to help them either.

Hey, at least you came up with an original color scheme for this site.

I'm patently against any site that names itself based on a pun.

"You know, 'dote' like you're doting on someone, but for dot net. Get it? Dote Net? dotenet?"

It took me a couple times to get it, too. I was thinking "dotty-net? " It reminds me of That Thing You Do.

"It's like 'wonders' but with a one, like the number. one-ders. oneders."

"I get it. It looks like the oh-knee-ders"

cheapsite="dotenet.com"
Imitation = fnFlattery(cheapSite)

Function fnFlattery(SiteInQuestion)
If PagesInSite.Blank = True Then
Return False 'just dumb
End If
End Function

hmmm, .. bet that would look cool on a TShirt.

I like dotnetkicks, it's "kick it" buttons and RSS-feeds. The only thing I am missing is the possibility to search for headlines instead of tags. Well, and the websnapr pics are not showing up correctly at all... But this site is still better DOTENET I think...

Retarded. There's nothing wrong with DNK and if there was, let's fix it rather than create a copycat. Silly rabbit.

Perhaps the author of dotenet.com doesn't know there's already a dotnetkicks.com?

To heavy on graphics. One of the things I like about DotNetKicks is that it isn't fully of a bunch of unnecessary graphics, causing the pages to load quickly.
