The BBC iPlayer was built on Microsofts Live Services which is .NET based. It also made heavy use of Silverlight. As developers, .NET or otherwise, it' good to know the changes and shifts in business and industries that make heavy use of technology so that we can position ourselves to be at the forefront of those chagnes and help create and champion the technical vision around those changes.
