So what application has Microsoft written totally in .NET that is worth a [expletive]? Visual Studio - NO, Office - NO, Notepad - NO, Calc - NO. Why haven't they? .....

MS Dynamics SL

The bigest VB.Net application in the world. Several million lines of .NET code. It is a major accounting package, used by fortune 500 companies. Not as upfront as notepad but when it comes down to it, microsoft writes code in C, it will just always be faster then managed code. Faster being a relative term of course.
