Microsoft Product Versioning(www.hanselman.com)

I have serious issues with how Microsoft versions their products (and updates). Their "Platform Update 1" to the .Net Framework 4.0 is going to be seriously confusing to users when it comes to product deployment/installation. There's some great discussion over on Hanselman's blog about it. What are your thoughts?

The versioning in my opinion is somewhat ok. The exceptions are 3.5 SP1 and 4.0 PU1. 3.5 SP1 could have been 3.5.1. And 4.0 PU1 could have been 4.1. Plain numbers is less confusing. I am still not sure about the difference between SP1 and PU1.
