I've really been looking for a hobby project to use the micro framework on, the idea of having the power of .Net on an embedded device is too irresistible.

Yeah, it really is... Coding4Fun has a few suggestions for cheap hardware project that involve the .NET Micro Framework. Microsoft is paired with some official chip manufacturers that are capable of running .NET Micro programs I believe. :-)
