A developers quest to select a good Antivirus for the year 2008

As a developer I am busy and I am also sure that the whole community is busy as well and like me everyone is keen on security. I wanted to share my experience to find a good antivirus for the current year as the top 3 antivirus position changes dramatically each year. This is not a coding related post, but I want to help out my fellow developers to spend less time in their search as well.
