Windows 8 does not make .NET developers obsolete

Simon Cooper reports the good news straight from DevWeek that Windows 8 is not going to leave us out in the cold, and that .Net applications are fully supported on the Windows 8 desktop.

The only thing that personally bothers me about this is that it feels like Microsoft has created a sub-optimal experience for users of desktop apps. I know that my clients will start requesting Metro applications, regardless of whether they're the best solution simply because they fit with Windows 8 much better.
