I'm not much of a car person but I love smart design. That is why I love BMWs. You see so much thought put into so many things that you cannot help but smile every time you see one (smile at everything but their price, that is). The same applies to designing an application. Attention to detail while using the most suitable tool for the job is crucial in developing application that scale and perform well.
