What is DevDirective(devdirective.com)

submitted by RobertTheGreyRobertTheGrey(447) 10 months, 7 days ago

DevDirective came from the realization that 99% of the sites that host developer articles are terrible. Plastered in ads, articles are spread out across 5-10 pages to maximize their impressions, and for the most part articles are un-edited, incorrect, and quickly out of date. When StackOverflow launched it created a better way to ask questions and get answers about programmer related topics. StackOverflow obsoleted developer forums for thousands of developers - there was no reason to trudge through the hard to navigate, ad plastered, and often incorrect forum sites. The goal of DevDirective is to do the exact same thing to the terrible article sites that are still out there. A secondary goal is to help give great writers who are writing on individual blogs a place to get a larger readership than they can get on their blog. So the question is how do we do it? What makes DevDirective different from the other article sites out there? Why not pay us a visit to find out? read more...

Programming Like an O'Neil Disciple(mycodingadventures.com)

submitted by pwammannpwammann(30) 11 months, 10 days ago

Bill O'Neil is the founder of Investor's Business Daily and is one of the greatest of the "Chartests" that have made millions in the stock market consistently and in both good and bad market trends. I have read some of his books and consider myself one of his disciples and have had success so far in following his advice. Investing in stocks is very technical and has many things in common with developing software. By using Bill's own laws as a guide we can apply them to programming with the same kind of results. read more...

Build a Windows Phone 7 App and Make a $100 for Your User Group (blogs.telerik.com)

submitted by KodefuGuruKodefuGuru(2818) 11 months, 26 days ago

Good news for any member of a developer user group who’s interested in winning a $100 for his/her user group. Here’s the deal: Telerik in partnership with PreEmptive Solutions and Microsoft will donate a $100 to your user group for each eligible app published at the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. The app needs to use Telerik RadControls for Windows Phone 7 and PreEmptive Solutions Runtime Intelligence for Windows Phone. You get both Telerik RadControls and PreEmptive Solution at no cost. What’s even better is that if you get Telerik RadControls for WP7 now, you will automatically receive the updated version of the suite in July including Chart and Calendar components leveraging some of the functionalities made available with the latest Mango release. The deadline for submission is extended till June 9. Read full details here. read more...
