A great "How To" about creating non-rectangular image masks: 1. Create an image with a background color of your choice, at the size of the object you are masking. 2. Make the areas you want selected completely transparent on the alpha channel (Black). 3. Make the rest of the image half transparent on the alpha channel (Gray). Code is included on the post.
