Phone Number Validation and Formatting with JavaScript(dynamicajax.com)

Yet another approach to validating phone number input with JavaScript. Unlike many of the other schemes, this validation function takes any valid 10 digit phone number in any format, validates it, then sets the value of the text field to the desired format of the programmer. Much more user friendly than those rigid validation schemes where the user is forced into a format.
