Between Launchy for running programs and Resharper for jumping to files/classes among all the other things Resharper does I don't think google desktop is needed, and I enjoy using AnkhSVN for SVN integration with Visual Studio.

That assumes that A) You're using Visual Studio and B) You've paid for Resharper. Plus, what if you just want to change a .config file? Hitting Ctrl-Ctrl and just typing my.application.config and hitting enter to launch it in notepad++ is such a better way to work.

@rathboma that can be achieved with using Launchy which is free/open source assuming you have .config associated with Notepad++.

I'd roll both Tail and PuTTy under Cygwin (an UNIX-compatibility shell and SDK) or SUA (Subsystem for UNIX, an optional component of Windows 2003/Vista/2008), both of which accomplish the same thing of giving the Windows user nearly everything UNIX folks crave, all in one move.
