Recently I was chatting with a friend of mine and he asked if a single developer could be successful following TDD on a team that does not follow TDD. My simple answer was YES, they can. But there are a few things you must consider.....

It sounds to me like this friend of yours should be spending more time working on his communication skills. This isn't meant to be an insult, but like any design methodology, TDD should be part of the core procedures that a group of developers follow, not a single developer. The approach outlined by this article has a high risk involved with making your friend appear to be rebellious, rather than making him appear to be the trend setter that he hopes to be.

By the way , as a suggestion, I have generally found that demonstrations (brownbags) are far more productive at influencing change than simply trying to communicate it verbally, alone. Often times, humans are very resistant to change. Empirical demonstrations help, significantly.
