Silverlight Media Applications - Slide.Show, Video.Show(dannydouglass.com)

In my previous post I announced an extension for BlogEngine.NET that utilized a rich Silverlight application called Slide.Show built by Vertigo. It was one of three products in their ".Show" line - the other two being Video.Show and Family.Show. I'm only going to discuss the first two as I plan to focus on the media sharing applications offered by Vertigo. Both applications are open source (available for download on CodePlex) and are cross browser compatible (IE 6 and 7, Firefox 2, and Safari 3). Social Bookmarking & RSS Feed Widget(dannydouglass.com)

After just releasing a social bookmarking extension that included a generic user control and BlogEngine.net version I stumbled across a new widget provided by AddThis.com. I had noticed the widget on sites like dezinerfolio and a post on a game being delayed from ign.com, but never really looked into it. Well, turns out the beat me to the punch and offer a nice little service that allows you to create an account and grab a widget for RSS feeds and/or social bookmarks for individual posts. Instead of jumping between torrent sites trying to find the undoubtedly legal content you are searching for, you can now visit YouTorrent for all your torrent needs. YouTorrent indexes torrents from several popular torrent sites (The Pirate Bay, BitTorrent, Monova, and many more) and returns results by organized by popularity (most seeded torrents). Add Social Bookmarking Links To Your Blog(dannydouglass.com)

I set out early today to add a few social bookmarking links to my blog, but then decided that I'd take this task one step further and create an extension for BlogEngine.NET. I also created a generic version that will allow you to plug this code (via a UserControl) into your blog as long as you have control over the source code. The extension is very configurable and allows you to choose between several different ways to display them. The image included in the full post shows an example of each of the display types. Another nice feature with the extension is that you can decide which links to display and the order they appear - all which can be configured with the new Extension Manager featured in version 1.3. Media Sharing Bug Fix for Windows Vista(dannydouglass.com)

I ran into a bug when trying to share my media with my XBox 360. Each time I tried to enable the sharing through the Network and Sharing Center in Windows Vista Ultimate I received this error message: Media sharing is currently disabled, either because the sharing service is no longer running or your firewall settings have changed. Setting your default browser should be a rather simple task in both Windows XP & Vista. Just right-click on the "Start" menu, choose "Properties", click the "Start Menu" tab and "Customize".
