Working with WCF: Part One: Introduction and Your First Service

I've been playing with WCF since .NET 3 came out. Sometimes I have to be reminded that not everybody is as familiar with all it's "cob-webby corners" as I am. And that's OK. Often (too often) I encounter someone who has NEVER used WCF and doesn't even know where to begin. That's not so OK.

Code Generation Should be the Nuclear Option

So let me first just start off by saying: I do not like code generation. In certain cases I think it can help greatly, but many people are far too eager to jump to this solution. I don't think that there is anything particularly evil about the process of generating code, but I do feel like using code generation as a day to day tool is a very bad practice. Code generation should be the tool of last resort when there is no good way to cleanly implement a solution which doesn't require code to be spread out everywhere.

Why I prefer MVC

I tought about writing a post about why I prefer the MVC framework instead of the old .NET way, webforms, to build my webapplications. But today when I opened my google reader to check out the new posts, I saw this post by Rob Conery which I think has some very good arguments to why you should atleast try it out.

5 Blogs ASP.NET MVC Developers Should Be Following

Everyone knows that Phil Haack, Rob Conery, Scott Hanselman, and Scott Guthrie all provide good ASP.NET MVC content on their blogs. I wanted to provide a list of excellent resources on ASP.NET MVC that are a little less well known.
