ASP.NET MVC, session and concurrent requests: not what you’d expect

This also counts for 'normal' ASP.NET webform applications.. Write your own session mechanism to get around it.

jQuery: An open letter to non-Believers...

posted by TweeZzTweeZz(77) 4 years, 10 months ago 0

I'm a prototype user. This is the first time I was reading things about jQuery. I thought I might have a deeper look in it. I checked out the main jquery site, was reading some documentation. Then I googled for some prototype vs jquery. I found some interesting things...

http://encytemedia.com/blog/articles/2006/08/23/jquery-mis-leading-the-pack
http://ajaxian.com/archives/benchmark-prototype-and-jquery

Each has it's pro's and con's... as everything. I'll stick to the prototype / scriptaculous combination.

Something you probably don't know about enums in C#

I was googling a bit. Do you know the 'FlagsAttribute' that you can put on top of an enum defenition?

XmlDocument fluent interface

I also like the fact that it can be used 'fluently'. I prefer this approach then XmlTextwriter, but indeed, probably not that good performing. But then again, who cares about performance these days, right? :)

"Hmmm, guess we should really start to read those "I agree" thingies ...."

I'm pretty sure that if you would read all the "I agree" thingies of applications you install, you would freak out very often with what you actually agree.
Did you already have problems with some application you installed (and so agreed with all the blablabla)?

Measure String Size In Pixels (C#)

posted by TweeZzTweeZz(77) 3 years, 7 months ago 0

What about finding out the amount of pixels a string will take in a browser? You do not necessarily know any font information before hand, because some designer is taking care of the css.
Or let's say you get a request to display '...' at the end of a string when it doesn't fit in the provided space. The string can off course be displayed on only one row.

jQuery and the ASP.NET MVC Framework

"With WebForms, integrating with Ajax libraries other than ASP.NET AJAX was slightly painful."

Just in case someone would believe this. Try out Anthem (http://anthem-dot-net.sourceforge.net/). Very easy to use and does all what you need.
