Is rooting for Visual Basic like rooting for the Red Sox?(hanselman.com)

Visual Basic programmers, historically, have tended to be a bit long suffering, patiently enduring the wrongs and difficulties of VB while being mocked by the C# folks. "VB's a toy." "VB's not performant." "VB programmers aren't real programmers."

Google trends would seem to disagree.

True that I came from the days when my choices were C++ and VB and for me, the choice was easy. Although VB has improved as a whole --mostly because it relies on the same framework and CLR that runs all .NET code--, I still can't accept the language syntax. I guess it's just too verbose.

Another thing that VB has against it is that I have yet to meet a single VB developer that I have respect for. That's not to say that they don't exist, but if they do, they sure are few and far between.
