When you create a new .NET Metro style application in Visual Studio, it spits out a project template that doesn't reference any .NET assemblies. Well, this isn't completely true, because when you run the C# compiler it references MSCorLib.dll by default.

I'm really disliking Microsoft's stop-gap approach to migrating C# developers from .Net to WinRT. There's some compatibility in Metro, but it's not full, relegating .Net products to what is sure to be seen as the inferior experience on the classic desktop.
