How to reference an assembly from the GAC(angryhacker.com)

One persistent point of pain and misunderstanding for many .NET devs is referencing assemblies that are in the GAC, but do not appear in the 'Add Reference' dialog. This article provides workarounds and explains the nuts and bolts of this issue.
