Microsoft's Opinionated Misfit Geek apparently took a brief look at Aggiorno, a Visual Studio plugin that does some interesting stuff, such as add alternate text to images, update deprecated attributes or fix tag structure for XHTML compliance. Come take a look!

I think everything was cool about this product other than this statement: "Did you know that failure to correctly declare the DOCTYPE of an (X)html Web site can lead to search engines diagnosing your Web pages as 404 (File Not Found Error)?" (http://www.aggiorno.com/why-aggiorno.aspx) In my experience that is a very false statement.

You are right. The comment needs to be rewritten. What it means is that there are cases when the source code is so broken that Google aborts the indexing of the page.
