Visual Studio 2005 too slow? The Navigation Bar could be the culprit(lab.msdn.microsoft.com)

While this "closed" bug dates back to Beta 2, turning off the navigation bar made a huge performance difference for me on the RTM.

Also, while not explicitly mentioned in this post, disabling Word Wrap has improved performance for many users as well.
