Using the InkToolbar with Custom Dry Ink in Windows Anniversary Edition

I have been experimenting with the new InkToolbar control in the new Windows Anniversary Update and wanted to walk through a common scenario for using the InkToolbar with "Custom Dry Ink". The InkToolbar was designed to work with an InkCanvas control that manages its own ink data.
